
Hayley Mason is an award-winning television journalist, creative, and entrepreneur from Atlanta, Georgia.
For more than 12 years, Hayley worked as a live television news reporter and anchor before making a career pivot to pursue her goal of becoming a global media executive. She recently earned her MBA from Columbia Business School in New York City, where she focused much of her work in media, entertainment, and technology. She is the founder of Mason Media, LLC, a boutique media firm offering media coaching, strategy, and production services with a proven track of client satisfaction and success.
Hayley is known to be a results-driven, comprehensive, and passionate news leader with a broad and loyal following. In each market, she was a respected newsroom leader who contributed to audience growth and increased viewership across platforms.
Prior to her move to New York City, Hayley spent several years working in Atlanta, Georgia, the 6th largest television market in the United States. In Atlanta, Hayley reported daily on live television, digital streaming and audio platforms, and social media. She specialized in covering politics, courts, education, and crime–all with a focus on community advocacy. She has been tapped to make several national and network television appearances for her reporting and analysis.
Solidifying her role as a reliable political journalist, Hayley was selected as the credentialed State Capitol and political reporter at CBS46 Atlanta for multiple years. Prior to returning to her hometown, Hayley spent several years as a reporter and fill-in anchor in Nashville at Channel 4 News, the NBC News affiliate, where she covered politics and criminal courts and broke several major news stories that gained national attention. Before moving to Music City, Hayley worked in Virginia and Maryland reporting and anchoring for the local NBC television affiliate. She’s had a longstanding commitment to bringing high-impact journalism to the forefront each day.
Hayley is a four-time Emmy award winner and an Associated Press award-winning journalist. In 2021, Hayley received two Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards for team news coverage, one of the highest honors in journalism. She has earned a political reporting award from the Georgia Association of Broadcasters. She was also a finalist for the National Association of Black Journalists’ Salute to Excellence Award for Investigative Reporting and has received multiple Emmy nominations throughout her career.
Hayley is a graduate of Howard University where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism, with a magna cum laude honors designation. She earned a minor in Jazz Vocal Performance while being active in student government, the university chapel, community service initiatives, and television and performing arts. In addition to her MBA, Hayley holds a certificate in TV and Film Industry Essentials from NYU Tisch School of the Arts.
Hayley got her first real experience in news in New York City as an intern for NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams and Lester Holt. This is where she learned strong news judgment, ethics, and high journalistic standards in storytelling. She was next selected to intern for MSNBC in Washington, DC, where she produced live shots on Capitol Hill with U.S. Senators and Congressmen. She also interned and was later hired at FOX News Channel in Washington, DC before leaving to start her career in local news.
Hayley served as President of the Nashville Chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists for two years. She is a member of The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated where she has actively served on the executive board and executive committee in her alumnae chapters.
